Anchor, Noticias Univisión 65
A native of Puerto Rico, Ilia Garcia came to the US to pursue a college education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Public Affairs. Ms. Garcia began her career as a freelance reporter for WUVP-65. Her reporting and connection with the Latino community of the Philadelphia region lead her to become Univision 65’s main anchor of “Noticias Univision 65.” She has worked on special assignments, served as panelist for several gubernatorial and mayoral debates, and conducted interviews with a number of political leaders such as Presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and John McCain, the President of Mexico, Vicente Fox and current and past Governors of Puerto Rico.
She has been consistenly considered one of the most influential Latinos in the region, received the “Hispanic Choice Award” for favorite television personality, and was nominated for three Emmy Awards, among others. Her son Antonio is her biggest pride and joy.
