President, CEO, Asociación de Puertorriqueños en Marcha
Nilda Iris Ruiz is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Asociación de Puertorriqueños en Marcha, Inc. (APM) since 2005. With a staff of 115 employees, a $60 million combined budget, and $100 million leveraged in real estate development projects, APM provides direct services to 40,000 individuals per year. In 2011, APM completed Sheridan Homes, an award-winning ‘green’ affordable housing project. In 2013, APM inaugurated Paseo Verde, a $48 million dollar Transit Oriented Development in Eastern North Philadelphia, where they have their new headquarters.
Nilda Ruiz is known for her progressive stands on neighborhood revitalization, leadership development, self-empowerment, passion for children, protective services and her embrace of ‘green’ projects. Ruiz and APM were featured in a front page cover story in the Philadelphia Daily News, an 8-part series by PlanPhilly.com and numerous KYW News Radio and television appearances.
Nilda sits on the national board of the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), on the Temple University Economic Opportunities Advisory Committee, is a former executive member of the Board of Directors of the Natinonal Council of La Raza (NCLR), and have received multiple local recognitions linked to her advocacy work for children and education, and her multicultural leadership, among others.
Nilda has an undergraduate degree from Temple University and a Masters in Business Administration from Eastern College.
