Senior Vice President, Philadelphia Market Leader, Customers Bank
In her position she manages Customers Bank’s expanding commercial lending services, with a focus on increasing access to capital for small businesses and minority businesses in Philadelphia.
Prior to joining Customers Bank, Fernandez served as President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. During her tenure Varsovia helped GPHCC achieve record levels of membership, revenues and member-driven activities through the implementation of new strategies and programs. She launched the GPHCC’s Professional Mentoring Network, a workforce development initiative to help Hispanic professionals connect with executives and with Hispanic youth.
New programas like the Latina Leadership Network, and the “10,000 Small Businesses” initiative with Goldman Sachs, started under her leadership in the GPHCC. Before, she was Vice President of External Affairs for Congreso de Latinos Unidos.
Fernandez has served on various boards, including the Philadelphia Zoning Code Commission, Community College of Philadelphia Board of Trustees, the Community College of Philadelphia Foundation, Philadelphia Youth Network Council for College and Career Success, and PHL Diversity, among others.
